With Talon, you can choose between multiple modes to ensure the right hold and
fast, easy anchor retraction: Auto-Drive Mode, Soft Bottom Mode and Rough Water
Mode.
With no hydraulics, the lightweight, space-saving Talon is as easy
to install as a trolling motor. You can do it yourself, and save the money on a
costly installation.
While the competitor's extended “crab leg” ties up your lines and
costs you fish, Talon’s patented sequential vertical deployment is quicker,
quieter and stays out of your way.

Minn Kota Talon.
Do I need a separate battery to operate my Minn
Kota Talon shallow water anchor?
No. Minn Kota recommends connecting your Talon shallow water
anchor to the starting/cranking battery of your boat.
Does the Minn Kota Talon shallow water anchor have a fuse?
What size is it? Where can I purchase the fuse?
Two Stage Talons (6' & 8'): Yes, the Talon has an in-line 30A
blade style fuse. These can be purchased at any automotive parts store.
How do I determine where and how to mount my Minn Kota Talon
shallow water anchor?
This will vary from one boat to the next. It is important to
check for proper steering and trimming clearances when laying out your
installation. See the Talon installation guide for detailed instructions or
the Talon adapter bracket selection guide.
How do I know when I should use a mounting bracket for the
Minn Kota Talon shallow water anchor?
Some boats have irregular shaped transoms and the standard Talon
quick release mounting bracket cannot be mounted directly to the transom. In
other cases there are other accessories such as trim tabs, transducers, poling
platforms, etc., that may require additional clearance. Use the Minn Kota
Talon adapter bracket selection guide to select the proper application for
your boat.
How do I mount a Minn Kota Talon shallow water anchor when I
have Trim Tabs?
Talon requires a minimum of 6" of clearance from the mounting
surface. If further clearance is required, or it is necessary to mount over
top of trim tabs, Minn Kota offers a 6" riser accessory, and a variety of
adapter mounting brackets that will give you the proper amount of setback
(distance from the transom) to clear trim tabs and/or other accessories. See
the Talon installation guide for detailed instructions or the Talon adapter
bracket selection guide.
Is the Minn Kota Talon shallow water anchor completely battery
operated?
Yes. The Minn Kota Talon shallow water anchor is a mechanical
design that is 100% electricity driven, so there is no messy hydraulic fluid
and/or hoses to deal with.
If I adjust the Minn Kota Talon shallow water anchor extrusion
lower to the water, do I gain more depth?
Yes. However the user must be aware that Minn Kota recommends a
minimum of 4" up from the bottom of the hull line to minimize spray. Dragging
the Talon through the water while underway could cause damage to the Talon
and/or transom of your boat.
What is the max boat weight and length that a Talon shallow
water anchor can hold?
A single Talon is capable of anchoring a boat up to 28’ in
length, and 4,500 lbs. For boats larger than this, we would recommend an
additional Talon to ensure proper anchoring capability.
What is the overall length of Talon shallow water anchor when
stowed?
Two Stage Models (Produced from 2011 to 2015):
6' Talon is 45"
8' Talon is 57"
Three Stage Models (Produced from 2014 to present):
8' Talon is 41" (Produced from 2015 to present).
10' Talon is 49.5"
12' Talon is 57.5"
When do I want to use the reverse angle on the bracket when
mounting Talon?
Some boat models have transoms that angle towards the inside of
the boat. In these cases, the Talon quick release bracket can be inverted to
account for this reversed angle without the hassle of shims.
Where can I find a copy of the Talon 10'-12' owner's manual?
You can access the Talon 10'-12' owner's manual here.
Which side of the boat do I want to install Talon?
Minn Kota recommends installing Talon on the port (left) side of
your boat in order to give you the maximum amount of clearance between the
boat engine and the control panel on Talon. However, Minn Kota's Talon can be
installed on either side of the boat.
Why do I want to be able to adjust the Talon up or down when
mounting on my boat?
Each boats sits differently in the water, and has varying amounts
of draft (hull under the water line). While Minn Kota recommends that the
Talon mounting bracket be mounted as high up on the transom as possible, Minn
Kota also recommends that the bottom of the Talon be a minimum of 4" up from
the bottom line of the hull of your boat. Having this adjustability will
minimize any spray that may occur while underway, and offer the greatest
amount of stability to the Talon
